    It is important to learn about standard of living because then you can easily assess whether a place is good to live in or not. This can help in lots of different situations because if you are deciding where to live you ca sees how good different aspects of a place are. If you are deciding how much a place needs help to improve their living knowing how to assess standard of living can help you do that too.

Ideas about economics and standard of living can be analyzed by using the five themes of geography. You can analyze these ideas by show what theme of geography they affect. For example number of paved roads would affect movement.

Five Themes of Geography

Analyzing the world using the five themes of geography helps you look at the world in different categories and to think about the world in different ways. They can help you look at how the humans change the world how we use the world, what different things on maps mean and where they are and a lot more. An example is that if you look at London using place you can see that the human characteristics are buildings, and physical characteristics are the River Thames. Movement is the most difficult theme to understand because there are different things that can be moved so it might be hard to understand what is moving. Also if you look at a lot of different things at a time the arrows showing you how things move can get confusing.
An example would be this map that does not have a key and there are lots of different routes of movement being shown that make it confusing.

Social Studies Map Skills Reflection

The parts of basic map skills that I find easy is cardinal directions and titles of continents and countries. I find these easy because these are skills that I learned about when I was younger so they come quicker to my mind. I have a harder time with coordinates because I have to do a little more thinking about where the lines all are. I think it is difficult because you have to make sure the lines are all in the right place. The basic map skills are necessary because you should know how to read a map. This also helps with geography because if you can read a map, knowing where places are is easier as well as knowing what symbols on the maps mean. Basically they improve your knowledge of the map that can help improve your understanding of a place.
